Lions enter the Wasps’ nest as games come thick and fast already

Fresh from an opening day win against Pagham on Saturday at Victoria Park, Guernsey are straight on the road as they face East Grinstead Town for the first time in seven years.

That trip saw Will Fazakerley score a wondergoal from inside his own half in a 3-3 draw when both sides were in Isthmian South East, and Faz will hope to repeat the trick as he makes up part of the squad just three days after his opening day double. Bagging another goal would take him on 40 goals for the club.

There will be a few changes, as is customary for a GFC midweek away. Sam Murray and Dylan Graham are unavailable from Saturday’s squad, while Fin du Port, Ross Allen, Tom Dodds and Fin Patterson are all still absent due to summer trips. Matt Loaring remains injured – he is due minor surgery on his knee (the opposite one to last year) and Brandon Wallace is edging closer to fitness but it not quite ready, while Jacob Fallaize is in the same situation. Defender Tom Vaudin is having a year out as he is studying for qualifications in the UK.

Alfie Torode could make his first competitive appearance of the season after an eyecatching debut in April. Corey Brouard did not appear from the bench on Saturday but will hope to make a big contribution at East Court, now known as The Vistavis Community Stadium.

East Grinstead Town are resetting after a dismal 2025-26 that saw them relegated from Isthmian South East with just six points – one win and 38 defeats in 42 games. If a 0-0 draw against promotion-fancied Haywards Heath Town on Saturday is anything to go by, they are back on the up and this should be a tough game. The previous 11 meetings has seen six wins for Guernsey, four for the Wasps and one draw.

Tuesday night’s match kicks off at 7.30pm. Fans not making the trip to The Vistavis Community Stadium can keep up to date via our social media pages. We are also hoping to stream the match on our YouTube channel but are testing new kit, so please bear with us. We will update if/when we have further news on coverage.
