Guernsey FC’s men and women’s teams are both back in action this weekend.
Tony Vance’s Green Lions are at home to Pagham on Saturday and are eyeing a further rise up the table after two excellent wins against early unbeaten sides Newhaven and Steyning Town over the last week. With Newhaven facing unbeaten leaders Haywards Heath Town, three points for the Sarnians will see them either move into the top four or close the gap to first place.
Will Fazakerley, who scored his first goal of the season within 30 seconds of kick-off on Tuesday, could hit a century of appearances for the club. GFC have already had 13 different goalscorers this season. Ben Solway, Matt Loaring and Simon Arnold are all still injured, but Dave Merris, Seb Vance, Callum Le Lacheur and maybe Tom Vaudin could come back into the squad if they can displace any of the 16 involved in the win on Tuesday.
Pagham are one point and one place below the Green Lions but have played a game more. They are unbeaten in three league games and scored late to earn a 2-1 win at fellow early high-flyers Roffey. The Lions finished 16th in the Southern Combination Premier Division last season. George Bowerman is their top scorer with seven goals in all competitions.
Saturday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Fans unable to make it to Victoria Park can keep up to date with our posts on X and Facebook.

Anna Gauvain’s unbeaten Green Lionesses are back on the road, heading to Dorset on Sunday to take on a Shaftesbury side looking for the first win after two defeats so far.
Guernsey could end the weekend as high as third in the Southern Region Women’s Division One South table with a win, depending on other results. Teenage goalkeeper Alana Hockey is in line for her debut, ending the Green Lionesses’ run of having to use outfield players in goal so far this season. Vicki Rang and Jess Frampton are back after missing last weekend’s draw with Andover New Street, while Kirstie Marquis could make her first appearance of the season.
The full travelling squad is as follows: Alana Hockey, Scarlett Kenneally, Mollie Watson, Vicki Rang, Aimee Ogier, Heidi Dawber, Candice Bougourd, Jess Frampton, Amy Dallamore, Ruby Smith, Kirstie Marquis, Donna Gallienne, Codie Le Flem, Calleigh Hedley.
Sunday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Fans not travelling to Shaftesbury can keep up to date with our social media posts.
