Guernsey look forward to taking on the world’s oldest football club to contest the Mike Thomas Trophy on Saturday.
With Ross Allen away and Matt Loaring nursing a knee injury, it gives a chance for some youngsters to catch the eye.
Dylan Graham, Alfie Torode, Corey Brouard, Riley Tyrrell and Tyrese Kelly – all of whom made their debuts last sesaon – are all included in Tony Vance’s 18-man squad. Torode had a memorable debut as he scored in a defeat to Wick in April.
The full squad is as follows: Addison, Hainsworth, Dodd, Dodds, Merris, Tyrrell, Wallace, Brouard, du Port, Graham, Le Lacheur, Gauvain, Arnold, Patterson, Torode, Fazakerley, Murray, T Kelly.
Founded in 1857, Sheffield FC are recognised by both FIFA and The FA as the oldest football club in the world and remain one of the most historic names in the game. Sheffield FC are also one of only two clubs to have received the FIFA Order of Merit, alongside Real Madrid CF.
They will play in the United Counties League Premier Division North this coming season, having been transferred from the Northern Counties East League, where they finished third last season.
Introduced in 2015 in memory of the Green Lions’ much-loved former physio, Mike Thomas, the aim of the fixture is to welcome teams from Thomas’ home county of Yorkshire to kickstart pre-season.
Saturday’s match kicks off at 3pm. Fans unable to make it to Victoria Park can keep up to date with our social media posts and a full match report will follow.
Please note that Guernsey FC parking permits will not be valid for this fixture. Parking at Victoria Park will be available on a first come, first served basis, with a limited number of spaces reserved for Blue Badge holders.
Supporters are encouraged to take advantage of the parking available at The Guernsey Institute Coutanchez Campus and enjoy the short stroll to Victoria Park Stadium via the footpath. Where possible, we also encourage supporters to walk, cycle, or share lifts to help reduce congestion.
Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to welcoming you to Victoria Park and raising money for the Mike Thomas Fund.
