Matt Loaring is set to match captain Jamie Dodd one of the club’s record appearance holders as Guernsey visit Chipstead on Tuesday evening.
With Dodd injured, Loaring will join him on a phenomenal 363 games for the Green Lions and could then go on to hold the record outright on Saturday.
Niall Hainsworth, who was an unused substitute against Marlow a couple of weeks ago, earns a recall and could make his debut, and Vance has also boosted his attacking options by bringing in Simon Arnold, fresh off a hat-trick for Sylvans at the weekend, for a potential debut.
The Green Lions’ latest setback against Thatcham Town was their sixth loss in a row, so the main target tonight is avoiding unlucky number seven. The Sarnians are looking to move out of the dropzone, while the Chips could advance into the play-off spots with a win. They started the season with a bang with 11 goals in their first three league games, winning two and drawing one, but Saturday’s 1-0 victory at Northwood was their first in four.
Both meetings last season were all about stunning goals from Sarnian strikers. Ross Allen’s 90th-minute volley earned a crucial point in a 2-2 draw at Footes Lane in March (Loaring had earlier equalised with his first touch less than a minute after coming on), while Will Fazakerley repeated his party trick of scoring from his own half to earn a 2-1 win on Guernsey last visit to High Road last October (Loaring was again on the scoresheet, this time from the penalty spot).
Tuesday’s match kicks off at 7.45pm. Fans unable to make it to High Road can watch live coverage on the Guernsey FC Facebook page and follow the action via our social media channels. Highlights and a full match report will be available following the game.
