Guernsey FC Women made it a day to remember as they played back-to-back matches in Jersey, winning both handsomely and scoring 20 goals in the process to go clear at the top of the JFA Women’s Combination.

Calleigh Hedley bagged a hat-trick in each game, the first in the space of just six minutes, to take her into double figures for the club, while captain Candice Bougourd led the charge for her side with the opening Guernsey goal in both games.

SPORTS CLUB OF JERSEY 1 - 12 GUERNSEY

Guernsey goals: Bougourd 17’, pen 26’; Le Lacheur 23’, 62; Watson 45’; Van Zutphen 47’; Dallamore 48’; OG 68’; Hedley 79’, 83’, 85’; Gallienne 90’)

Guernsey fell behind unexpectedly on 12 minutes as the hosts scored from range, with Emma Queripel unable to keep out the effort from Sports Club's number 17 from outside the box despite getting a hand to it.

But the Sarnians were soon level, as Gracia van Zutphen’s effort from the angle was saved, but captain Bougourd had made a late run into the box to tap in the rebound. Elise Le Lacheur soon made it two, her effort from the left corner of the box slipping through the goalkeeper’s grasp into the far corner.

The third was somewhat fortunate, with the Jersey captain harshly judged to have pushed over Bougourd in what looked like a 50-50 challenge. The skipper accepted the gift and calmly slotted into the bottom left corner.

Mollie Watson made it four on the stroke of half time, lobbing the keeper from the left corner of the box to bag her first goal for the club.

The Green Lionesses got two in the space of a minute at the start of the second half. First, van Zutphen ran free down the left channel to slot home, then straight from kick-off the visitors won the ball back and Amy Dallamore found the far corner from a similar position to make it 6-1, showing a great burst of pace to beat her marker to the ball.

The seventh came just after the hour. The goalkeeper made an initial brilliant save to keep out Donna Gallienne’s free-kick, but the ball stayed in and was pulled back into the middle for Le Lacheur to bag her second from six yards, shooting through a crowd.

The seventh was unfortunate from the hosts as Donna Gallienne’s shot looked to be heading wide but a defender stuck out a leg to divert it in.

Hedley came off the bench as a warm up to her start later in the day, hitting the outside of the post before bagging a treble. She got her first on 79 minutes, intercepting a goal-kick before finishing at the near post.

Winger Codie Le Flem turned goalkeeper for this fixture as she went between the sticks for the second half. It was her kick out that set Hedley away for her second and Guernsey’s 10th on 83 minutes, turning in the rebound after the keeper had saved her initial effort. Hedley ran in behind again on 85 minutes to complete a six-minute hat-trick.

Donna Gallienne completed the rout as she finished Dallamore’s through ball in the 90th minute. The Green Lionsesses had taken a couple of players off to play with nine players for the final 10 minutes to help even out the contest, but had still managed to add to their tally.

ROZEL ROVERS 2 - 8 GUERNSEY

Guernsey goals: Bougourd 5’; Hedley 19’, 30’, 43’; Leech 27’; Ogier 52’; Ingrouille 74’; Dallamore 90+1’.

There were no signs of tiredness from captain Bougourd as she led the charge again with the Green Lionesses’ first goal of the game. She’d already had a strike chalked off for offside just a minute earlier, but this time she wasn’t to be denied as she latched onto a loose ball after Le Flem’s initial effort had been cleared off the line, hitting it first time from the edge of the area to find the back of the net.

Rozel Rovers were level on 12 minutes as Charley Skinner ran onto Holly Muirhead’s through ball and tucked into the far corner, but Guernsey were back in front on 19 minutes with another fantastic goal – Hedley running onto Le Flem’s headed flick-on and lashing into the far corner as the ball dropped.

Leech pounced on a defensive mix-up from Le Flem’s cross to tap in a third on 27 minutes and by the half-hour it was four, as Hedley latched onto Scarlett Kenneally’s pass, went wide of the keeper and turned in from another tight ankle.

Hedley completed her hat-trick in style, turning 30 yards out and thumping the ball into the corner with an unstoppable drive as Guernsey made it five.

Rozel got a lifeline just before the break to keep them interested. Rang was only a couple of yards away when blocking a shot, but her arm was outstretched and she didn’t complain when the referee pointed to the spot. Emily Le Page hit her effort high against the crossbar, and the referee signalled that the ball had dropped just over the line as it bounced down.

Hedley had already been denied by the keeper and the post (set up by a lovely outside-of-the-boot flick by Leech) at the start of the second half before Guernsey got their sixth. Donna Gallienne’s corner looped up off a defender and dropped kindly for Aimee Ogier, who thrashed it home on the volley.

Hedley’s lob from Vicki Rang’s high ball dropped just the wrong side of the post, while Emma Queripel had a rare save to make on the hour as she stuck out a leg to deny Ella Docherty, who had latched onto a quick free-kick.

In a game full of high-quality goals, substitute Chloe Ingrouille’s was right up there. She showed silky footwork to shuffle past several challenges on the edge of the box before tucking the ball under the keeper – a real classy finish.

The Green Lionesses completed their afternoon’s work in injury time with their 20th goal of the day to make it 8-2, with Dallamore intercepting a clearings and steering the ball first time into the corner.
