Guernsey are out to show that Sunday's first-half performance against Rayners Lane was just one bad afternoon at the office as Horndean visit Footes Lane for the first time on Wednesday night.

The Green Lions cannot still pull out of the relegation zone if they beat the Hampshire side, because of Metropolitan Police's point at Badshot Lea on Tuesday, but they can move within a point of safety with games in hand. Horndean notched an impressive victory over Ascot United recently before two narrow defeats against play-off chasers Hartley Wintney and Raynes Park Vale - so they are no pushovers and will come to the island feeling confident.

But the Sarnians can take heart from the victory they claimed in the reverse fixture in October - our first win of the season thanks to goals from Sam Murray, Matt Loaring and Ross Allen.

Despite the negativeity surrounding Sunday afternoon's performance, it has still been a steady start to 2025, with three wins taking GFC into a position where they can secure safety for another season with a strong end to the campaign, with the games about to come thick and fast.

Steve Sharman and Kevin Gilligan will be hoping that Jacob Fallaize and Dave Merris are available for selection after limping off in the second half against Rayners Lane. Matt Loaring and Owen Wallbridge remain sidelined.

Allen reached double figures for the season with his penalty on Sunday, with Murray just behind him looking to do the same.

The Deans are 14th and could move up one place with a win.

Wednesday night's game kicks off at 7.45pm. Fans unable to make it to Footes Lane can listen to full live commentary on our @GuernseyFC X Space or keep up to date with our social media posts.
