Guernsey Football Club is delighted to announce Julia Hands as our new Chairperson. Julia replaces Mark Le Tissier who has stepped down. Mark, a co-founder of the club, was instrumental in the club’s formation and has been chairman since 2016. I’m sure you will all join us inexpressing our sincere thanks to Mark, and wishing him all the best for his well-earned rest. Julia Hands is well known as the driving force behind the club’s main sponsor, Hand Picked Hotels. Julia’s reputation as a strong and savvy business leader is indisputable. While her passion for the hospitality industry is evident, it may come as a surprise to some that it is matched in equal measure by her love of football, especially her beloved Arsenal and Guernsey FC. “Guernsey FC has an incredible passion and drive to keep going. They are totally committed to the cause and it inspired me to be involved.Without funding they couldn’t exist, as there are huge financial commitments to be able to travel to play away and to receive away teamsas well as all the other costs involved,” Julia explained. “All the players and organisers have day jobs too; I find this admirable.” “Guernsey fans are extremely passionate about the game; it’s something Iove to be a part of. They support the team here as if they were anational club. Any live game is so exciting and real – you are so close to the action and vibe of the crowds.” The Board has taken the opportunity to review the roles and responsibilities of its directors and team of volunteers to meet the continuing challenges and workloads involved in maintaining standards in all aspects of the club. Paul O’ Neill has also joined as a director. Paul is well known locally as the co-founder of New Street Management. Jez Robin has stepped down from the Board. Thanks Jez for everything you did over the years. The club will be releasing further details soon of an opportunity for fans to meet with the Board, players and volunteers as we outline our vision for 2023 and offer the opportunity for questions to be posed.
