Guernsey look to continue their 100% start to their league campaign when they head to Crawley Down Gatwick on Tuesday evening.
The Green Lions are yet to concede in their two Southern Combination Premier Division. They welcome back Will Fazakerley, who has three league goals already but missed the FA Vase win over Newhaven. Josh Addison is unavailable so Seb Sheppard will claim the gloves for the first time this season. Seb Vance, George Goubert and Ben Solway aren’t travelling while Jacob Fallaize and Brandon Wallace are still rehabbing in addition to the longer term injury of Matt Loaring. Ross Allen is still away but Tom Dodds is recalled to the squad after having to sit out the start of the season due to concussion protocols, and Simon Arnold is also recalled after being rested at the weekend. Tony Vance still has a full 16 at his disposal.
With Fazakerley having started strongly on the goal scoring front and Charlton Gauvain off the mark thanks to his FA Vase winner, they are in a race to 50 goals for the club. Faz is on 40 and Gauvain is on 42.
After a difficult start to the campaign that left them hovering just above the drop zone, the Anvils turned the corner around February, possibly thanks to some shrewd signings. They have started this season with a win, a draw and a defeat – already playing one more game than the Green Lions – including matching the Sarnians in picking up a 1-0 win at East Grinstead Town at the weekend.
Last season saw two very high scoring games between the pair. Sam Murray bagged a hat-trick in a 6-2 win at the Haven Sportsfield in December before another resounding win at Victoria Park, 7-2 in February. We have won four and drawn one of the five meetings so far, including our FA Cup debut in August 2013.
Tuesday night’s game kicks off at 7.30pm. Fans not making the journey to the Haven Sportsfield can listen to the full 90 minutes on our @GuernseyFC X Space or keep up to date with our social media posts. We are hoping to be able to show the full game on our YouTube channel and will confirm ahead of kick-off if that is the case. A full match report will follow.
