Guernsey’s bid to remain unbeaten in the Southern Combination Premier Division continues on Saturday against one of the league’s early pace setters, Roffey.
Aside from a 3-0 defeat to Midhurst & Easebourne in midweek, the Boars won their opening two league games and have progressed in the FA Vase (in which they travel to Guernsey in September), including putting eight past Little Common on opening day.
The Green Lions earned a 3-2 win in this fixture last season, although Roffey now play at Horsham. The meeting at Victoria Park was far more one sided, with the Sarnians bagging eight. Sam Murray got a hat-trick in that game, but he won’t be travelling due to the knee injury sustained about Crawley Down Gatwick.
Will Fazakerley is also unavailable, so Tyrese Kelly joins the squad to boost the attack. George Goubert and Josh Addison are available again, while Brandon Wallace is in the squad for the first time this season due to injury. Jacob Fallaize is rehabbing and Ross Allen is building up his fitness, while Matt Loaring remains out.
Tuesday’s draw was Guernsey’s first in league competition for more than 500 days. A second in five days would keep Tony Vance’s side unbeaten while the league table irons itself out.
Saturday’s match kicks off at 2pm.
