A late goal ended Guernsey FC Women’s mini unbeaten run on Sunday afternoon at Wimborne Town.
Things had starting promisingly with the Green Lionsesses holding a good shape and looking threatening going forward but just lacked the final touch.
Captain Candice Bougourd opened the scoring on 35 minutes as she curled a fantastic free-kick into the far corner for her third of the season but Anna Gauvain’s side were pegged back before half-time as a free-kick was headed home at the far post by Amiya Williams.
The winner came from yet another set piece as the game entered the final 10 minutes, with Lucy Roberts’s delivered sneaking past hockey to give the home side the lead.
A flurry of corners and free-kicks couldn’t force a leveller for Guernsey, who drop to seventh in the Southern Region Women’s Division One South.
Sunday’s other results were as follows: Bournemouth Sports Reserve 3-2 AFC Stoneham, Bursledon 4-0 Shaftesbury, Farnham Town 1-2 Andover New Street.
