U23s out for three-peat

Guernsey’s Development side are looking to make it three wins out of three in their debut Southern Combination U23 East season when they head to Little Common on Thursday night.

It is the first time Leon Meakin’s side are facing the U23 arm of a senior side also faced by the senior team. Having won their first two games, Guernsey have there games in hand on every side above them and could jump up to fourth tonight. That would include leapfrogging Little Common, who have won two, drawn two and lost one of their five games so far.

There is no Simon Geall due to be what will be a long recovery to a nasty facial injury sustained in the win over Saltdean United last weekend. Goalkeeper Regan Penney also went off injured in that game, which is what led to Geall taking the gloves, so Luke Elmy comes in for his first appearance in this division, as do Tito Guimaraes, Tyrese Kelly, Theo Cooper and Etienne Vance.  Aston Young is unavailable, while Charlie Robilliard is not travelling and so is unable to add to his two consecutive hat-tricks so far. Jamie Dodd and Marc McGrath are the “veterans” lending their experience to the group.

The full squad is as follows: Luke Elmy, Jamie Dodd, Etienne Vance, Sam Cooley, Oskar Cleal, Tom Solway, Riley Tyrrell, Jake Martin, Theo Cooper, Elden Roberts, Tito Guimaraes, Tyrese Kelly, Marc McGrath, Alfie Torode, Pierce Le Poidevin.

Thursday night’s match kicks off at 7.30pm. We won’t have commentary, but supporters not making the journey to the Little Common Recreation Ground will be able to watch the action live on our YouTube channel and follow our social media updates. A full match report will follow.
