Guernsey can move themselves back into the play-offs on Saturday as Little Common visit Victoria Park to begin the Christmas run-in.
The seventh-placed Green Lions could end the day anywhere between fourth and ninth in the Southern Combination Premier Division, getting their season back on track with back-to-back wins against fellow top-half sides Roffey and Peacehaven & Telscombe and have a score to settle having suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of their visitors back in August.
Simon Arnold and Niall Hainsworth both scored in that 4-2 defeat, which GFC played most of with 10 men after Dave Merris was sent off for handball on the line inside 10 minutes. Arnold and Hainsworth are still likely to be out as they work their way back from injury, while Tom Vaudin is not yet ready and Jacques Cauvin is a doubt. Matt Loaring is the other longer-term absentee.
Brandon Wallace is set to make his 100th appearance for the club, while Charlton Gauvain should go clear in the top 10 for appearances as he edges past Simon Geall onto 199 games.
Little Common could move up as high as 12th with a win, depending on other results. They won two in a row at the start of November but their last two outings have been 3-0 away defeats in tough fixtures at Haywards Heath Town and Forest Row.
Saturday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Fans unable to make it to Victoria Park can listen to full live commentary on our Facebook page or our @GuernseyFC X Space, or keep up to date with our social media updates.
It’s a double header at Victoria Park this weekend as Guernsey FC Women are finally back in action, after issues with flights, for the first time in four weeks.
It sees them renew relations with Bursledon, with whom they shared a 2-2 draw in November. Their unbeaten start was finally ended by Farnham Town so they will be looking to return to winning ways having picked up one victory in four games. The Green Lionesses have drawn half their games this season, so are just searching that formula to get them over the line in games.
Calleigh Hedley and Aimee Ogier unavailable and Ruby Smith is injured, but captain Candice Bougourd has been passed fit to play after missing the last couple of games with a fractured arm, while Codie Le Flem’s injury against Farnham Town is not as bad as first feared and she is back. Isla Anderson and Kellie Creed are hoping to make their first appearances of the season.
Bursledon have one win in seven games and are one place above the relegation zone. Guernsey could climb a couple of league places with a win.
Anna Gauvain’s squad is as follows: Alana Hockey, Heidi Dawber, Kellie Creed, Mollie Watson, Vicki Rang, Scarlett Kenneally, Steph Batiste, Amy Dallamore, Jess Frampton, Candice Bougourd, Rochelle Mullen, Donna Gallienne, Kirstie Marquis, Adrienne Leech, Codie Le Flem, Isla Anderson.
Sunday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Fans unable to make it to Victoria Park can keep up to date with our social media posts, and we will inform supporters if live commentary will be available.
A full match report will follow both games.
